Last Sunday, our kids—ages 2 to 11—took part in Kids on Mission Sunday, a day designed to help them practice what it looks like to share God’s love in practical ways. Partnering with the Multi-Ethnic Church of Mt. Greenwood and their Lunch Packing Ministry, our kids worked together to care for neighbors who could use a little encouragement.
- JAMmers and Community Night kids decorated 150 lunch bags with artwork and simple messages of hope.
- PreK–2nd graders packed 100 snack bags, choosing items they thought someone would enjoy.
- 3rd–5th graders made 50 sandwiches and assembled full lunches to be handed out later in the week.
Before getting to work, the kids learned what it means to live on mission and how our partners are serving both locally and around the world. When everything was finished, they gathered together to pray over the lunches, asking God to use each one to meet a need.
Every part of this project was funded through the kids’ offering from this year’s class sessions—making it a completely kid-funded, kid-led effort.
Kids on Mission continues to give our children a chance to discover the joy of generosity, to work together, and to be a small picture of Jesus’ love to our community.
